Have you ever bought banner ads from eBay on somebody’s cluster of websites? They say you’ll get 1,000,000 impressions or something like that. However, the traffic you get to your site is minimal at best. Well don’t worry, I’ve done it before too but I learned something by doing it, targeted market. You have to target your market, OR you have to have a catchy name or memorable logo or banner.
I found something better than the cheap banner ads from eBay. It was license plate frames. Yea it sounds crazy but I really started to pick up traffic on one of my sites because of this. You don’t know what I’m talking about? OK, well you know the license plate you have on your vehicle? Most dealerships have their company logo/information around your license plate. YOU ARE ADVERTISING FOR THEM! Why? Why not advertise for YOURSELF? I would suggest using American Trophies. They are strong and last a long time. I think the black or chrome frame with blue background and white letters is the best. It will really catch someone’s eye. They are in California and can ship world wide. Just go to their website and call the number at the top of the page.
Speaking of advertising on cars. Did you know the average commute time in America is 27 minutes each way, to and from work? If I work in the town I live in, I can believe that. However, I have an office 19 miles away from home at it takes me about 40 minutes to get there. If I was driving to Chicago, you can add about an hour to that. When I was in California commute times were well over an hour too. I know some people who commute a little over two hours EACH WAY!
Why am I telling you all of this? It’s because of the success of bumper stickers and side of your vehicle signs for advertising. They work and work very well. I can’t tell you how many times I read bumper stickers. The best ones for advertising are to just have your dot com on it. Simple white with black letters, or black with white letters stand out the most and can be seen from a longer distance. If you have a memorable domain name, it will be easier for people to remember it. For example; StickToWhatYouKnow.com, eSoldier.net, DiabloValleyDivorce.com and DiscountCommunication.com. All of these are easy to remember and when you get to your destination, usually work or home, you’ll check them out. That’s what it’s all about. So how many people do you think coud remember your bumper sticker? Do you have a simple and “rememberable” domain name?
