Archive for the Filmmaking Category

I’ve been a filmmaker for a while and one of the things people have problems with is how to get their videos online. Well that’s pretty easy with YouTube, Revver, LiveLeak, Google Video, and the 1,500 other video sharing sites now a days.

The biggest thing filmmakers want is for their films to be seen. They don’t like the watermark or the quality but deal with it to have it online, for free.

Me personally, I believe you should have your own website and host your video yourself. I would say to use all the video sharing sites as marketing but make sure they have to go to your site to see the actual film. Use teasers, trailers etc. on YouTube but to get the goods, go to YOUR site, where YOU have the control.

I’ve said the same thing to business owners I know, who put video on their websites. I mean they have the website but it’s easier to use YouTube to upload then just copy the code, paste, done. Easy right?

You tube or…

I’ve been saying it for years that one day, YouTube will put ads on their videos. No one would believe me. They still don’t. I even said that with the purchase from Google, it’s probably going to happen even faster. I mean what does google do? SELL ADVERTISING!

Now that video you have on your webpage, hosted by YouTube is going to have an advertisement from your competition.

Is this a bad thing?

Well say you’re selling something like the YouTube Marketer and you have a video on YouTube explaining why you shouldn’t market on YouTube without it. You take that video and post it on your site at YouTubeMarketer.com along with some text explaining it all.

Not bad right? Well now say your competitor has paid for advertising and gets an ad placed on YOUR video. Now you’re marketing someone else’s stuff and not getting paid for it. How does that sit in your stomach?

I’m working on a Social Media Formula which addresses all of this and a lot more. I’m gearing it towards Filmmakers but if you market online, it will be definitely worth your time.

YouTube and ads? I think this is actually a good thing. Purchasing ads on YouTube and the other content sites is great. If you go with YouTube directly, you’re looking at a $50,000 price tag, minimum. However if your marketing budget is low just login to your Adwords account and follow the instructions. Check it out here.

YouTube is an should be an intregal part of anyone’s marketing online. Especially if you’re using video. I’m not going to get into the tips and tricks right now, but there are a few you can quickly do that will enhance the results and clicks through to your site.

Check out the cool new tracking capabilities YouTube has now. This video gets into the advertising as well as some new improvements to what YouTube has to offer.

If you want more views and better results from your YouTube Marketing, check out YouTubeMarketer.com. I personally think it’s great and have used it in many situations. My own personal results were amazing.
