Michael S. Copeland

Michael S. Copeland has had his hands on computers since he was in elementary school. He started programing his own games on the Texas Instruments TI-994-A and then on the Commodore 64. Michael built his first “PC” at age 11 and has been using a PC ever since.

In Jr. High (Middle) School, he started and ran two BBS’s. This is what people used before the internet where dial-up speeds were 300 - 2400 baud. He learned early on that in order to have a successful BBS you have to market it. He learned that word of mouth marketing was the best. However, at that time he didn’t know he was doing “social marketing”.

Michael also started a business at the age of 14 digitizing logos for clients all over the country. Marketing was mainly word of mouth and trade shows for the awards and engraving industry. Michael won the highest award in the industry, the “Award of Awards”, in the awards and engraving industry when he was 18. This award is similar to the “Oscar” or “Emmy” in their respective industries. Michael closed the business at the age of 21.

In the early 90’s Michael had started another business with a partner. Their website was put online and the need for traffic shortly ensued. This was an entertainment company which held concerts with renowned DJs spinning their turntables. Marketing again, was social marketing and word of mouth. Michael was able to “pack the house” with the use of these marketing techniques. This company evolved into a media company providing website and graphic design, as well as 3D animations and visual FX. The business closed in the late 90s but the website lived on until 2003 when it was taken off line.

Michael had created a few short films and very involved in the independent filmmaker community. Many filmmakers were doing it for the love of making films and being part of the community. Some were in it to make a living out of that love. Michael helped filmmakers create better scripts, create business plans for internal use and investor funding, and help them develop a vision so the filmmaker can be future focused. Michael found that many filmmakers started a production company to create one film, but didn’t have the vision to see beyond that one film.

Now Michael has multiple businesses online. One business is to help all entrepreneurs develop an idea into a vision. He helps them create a map so their vision will be on the forefront of all business ideas, products and decisions. By consulting, Michael can only help one client at a time. However, Michael is in the process of developing a program where you can learn to build a better business yourself. Building better businesses is what Michael is focusing on now. Information and Knowledge is all you need to succeed.
